To resolve an earlier situation, our furnace is fixed. The heater repair guy came by close to 7pm on Friday and showed us how to light the pilot light. Evidently, when there is wind outside gas can't go up the flue the way it should and it comes back down into the house. There's some sort of safety feature that detects this and shuts everything down. He figured that was what was happening.
The electronic lighter is busted. I think he called it the pizmo or the pizo, so we need to use a match to light the pilot light.
He was puzzled about the kabooms I'd been hearing. I know they weren't as bad as the other kabooms we'd had before his company came in to reinstall the furnace, but he did say there wasn't anything wrong with the furnace.
