When Spirit Whispers

Yikes. If I were to save this as a word document it would helpfully suggest a title of Yikes. That’s about it. All this time, all this ding-donged time I’ve had folks who click on my book, “When Spirit Whispers” go to where the $10 paperback version is available at Lulu.com. Duh, we talked about the $3 downloadable version but, nowhere was it in sight. What a twit. Anyway, I have fixed it on all of my blogs and on my website. Good thing I use one of those virtual thingies at Talking to Spirit so that I only had to change it once.

I’ve got tomorrow off from work. I celebrated by having 2 cups of coffee this evening. I mixed the coffee up with 2 spoons of decaf and 1 of French Roast. Then, to make it interesting I poured some vanilla extract into the carton of Half-N-Half; instant gourmet coffee creamer.

An Upbeat Attitude is Hard to Beat

It used to be that I was mildly productive with personal things I’d do at work during my lunch time. I have half an hour and during that time I’d spend 15 minutes eating and the remaining 15 minutes checking my email, looking at what I hadn’t made on Google and possibly hammering out a quick PayPerPost entry. No longer. At least, not for the foreseeable future. And, maybe this is a good thing.

I’m trying to think in terms of what is the best possible outcome. I suppose that’s why they call people Pollyanna. My name is Pauline. So, like when my husband broke his back. The spin on that with the up-beat attitude is that he was actually heading for the freeway that day and if he’d made it he would have died. Instead, somehow, we don’t know why or how, he ended up in front of the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland, right in the middle of lunch time traffic unconscious from a seizure and now with a broken back. The seizure was so strong it bucked him violently in the car bad enough to break his back. He is recovered now and is able to do everything he was ever able to do before, including having run a marathon in Sacramento some years ago. It's things like that happening that make me think of the miracles that happen in our life.

So, instead of bemoaning the fact that my routine is changed (and probably going to change a lot more as time goes by) I can instead think in terms of I’m moving into a new position. Somebody else is going to be doing my job. And, life moves on. I suppose they’ll have another 6 or 7 years out of me before I crap out. Maybe longer.

So, I guess instead of fearing the changes I can embrace them. It takes a load off of my shoulders. Right. With that one thought I feel better.

Work

So, this weekend the plan is to write another 2 articles for the June newsletter. It’s funny, but lately I really don’t know what I’m going to write about until just before or after I’ve sat down and gotten serious about the whole thing.

It’s generally not my style. Usually, I’d warm up to a subject by thinking it to death for some time even before I sit down to have a go at it. What’s been happening lately is I would get into a “mood” of acceptance for some gem to come to me from the ether that I could talk about. Though that worked for a long time, the last few times I’ve set myself down at the computer it has not worked. What happened is I’d set myself to zone out, move into “mood” and nothing happened. That got a bit frustrating and as my own personal deadline of a week before publication loomed nearer I’d start panicking. It’s not like I’ve got a publisher breathing down my neck and it sure wouldn’t hurt to be a couple of days late in getting my newsletter out, but my own “rule” the last few years has been to have it in the email to folks on day one of the new month and up on my website about a week prior to that.

So, what happened last weekend was I sat down with absolutely no idea of what I was going to be writing about and neatly penned two articles with no problem at all. I will be doing the same thing this weekend.

Not that there isn’t anything wrong with moving into “zone” and waiting for “mood” to happen. I’m just trying out a new technique. I wonder what I should call it? Ha. Some guide just said, “work”.

Links

Occasionally I find myself in a rut. At first I don’t always realize that it’s happened, but I will eventually realize that it’s been awhile since I’ve done something that used to be important to me. Sometimes, doing those things is difficult and that could be why I hadn’t done them in awhile.

One of the things that I could be doing on with greater frequency is looking for links for my sites. Yes, I could pay somebody else to do it, but in my heart I feel like I’m going to be doing a better job of it. I don’t just want a link to anybody’s site. I want it to be relevant and special. I have a certain standard that I want to uphold.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t always happen that I am moved to sit down and spend 3 hours at a shot (which is what it took me today) to ask for links to 5 different sites. Spirit moved me I guess. Anyway, it started with me stumbling upon a spiritual retreat site. Right away I knew I wanted to have a link at their site and they would be perfect for my own spiritual retreats page. Unfortunately I didn’t have one. So, part of my 3 hours this morning was spent in creating a resource page for Spiritual Retreats at Talking to Spirit. Tell me what you think.

Telephone Manners

Okay, this doesn’t actually have anything to do with things psychic. It’s just something that irritates me. Communication in business while on the phone.

Nothing irritates me more than not being able to understand people when they talk on the phone. Mumbling? Speak clearly. Chewing gum? Spit it out. Holding the receiver down by your adam’s apple? Put the ding-donged phone up to your mouth. Bad connection because of your phone? Please invest in a telephone or a telephone service which will allow you to speak in an understood fashion to your business connection.

Anyway, I think it is piss-poor bad manners. It irritates the shit out of me. And, if you want my money or my company’s money? And, I can’t understand you? You’re not making a sale with me or my company because all telephone messages start and stop with me, Buddy-Ro! And, I know damn well that if you’ve managed to irritate me you’re going to irritate my boss even more.

And, if you’re arrogant? Ha! And you think I’m going to pass on your message without an editorial comment to warn whoever it is that you’re an A**hole? Don’t bet on it. There’s always room to write, “This guy wants money and he’s a twit, or a turd, or an arrogant A**hole.”
